Use CadFreely to view and edit supported 2D DWG and DXF drawings in your browser. Local drawing tools do not require an account or a CAD subscription.
How to open a DWG or DXF online
- Open the CadFreely editor and choose Open drawing from the application menu, then choose a local file.
- Choose the file from your device. Allow the import to finish before editing.
- Use Zoom Extents if the geometry is outside your current view. Layers can also hide parts of a drawing.
- Select objects to inspect their properties, or use commands and the ribbon to draw and edit.
Choosing a file on your device does not publish it as an online drawing. Depending on the file and device, conversion can use the server; local saving is not a promise that all processing stays offline. See the privacy policy for processing details.
Save to your device
Choose Save As, enter a name and select DWG, DXF or a workspace format. You can choose the format from the dropdown rather than typing an extension yourself.
On browsers that support access to an opened file, Save can write back to that local file after permission is granted. Other browsers, including many mobile configurations, download a new copy. Keep track of the downloaded filename.
Or keep a drawing online
Sign in to use online storage and open your saved drawings on another device. Online saving is an explicit choice. Keep your original file and a local backup while checking an important imported drawing.
If saving fails, keep the drawing open and use the recovery or Save As options offered by the editor.
Pictures, references and custom objects
A DWG can depend on external reference drawings, images, fonts or application-specific objects. The main file alone may not contain everything needed to display it correctly. Use the attachment/reference controls to locate missing files. When sharing pictures or referenced drawings with another CAD application, download a package and keep its folder structure together.
Some proxies have no usable stored graphics. Some dynamic blocks and specialist objects cannot be edited with full native behavior in CadFreely. Check the imported result, keep the source and compare a saved copy in the originating application for critical work.
DWG, DXF or PDF: which should you save?
DWG is useful when continuing an existing DWG workflow. DXF is useful for exchanging supported drawing entities with other CAD tools. Neither choice guarantees that every custom object in a source application will survive unchanged. A workspace or recovery copy can help preserve your CadFreely editing session alongside the exchange file.
